A much loved classic!
2 cup sugar
1/2 cup dark molasses
1 ½ cup softened butter
2 egg
4 ½ cups flour
4 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon each salt, ginger and cloves
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Additional sugar
Cream sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
Beat in eggs and molasses.
Combine dry ingredients and
gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
Cover and chill for at least 1 hour.
Roll into 1” balls and then in sugar.
Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes.
(I always do 8 minutes. They stay softer!)
